Moment Professionals is recruiting on behalf of Queen a greenhouse grower for the production in Hinnerup, Denmark. We are looking for a plant enthusiast who can read the plants and act on the numbers behind climate, irrigation, fertilisation and light before a problem grows. The role suits you if you want to spend your day in the greenhouses with the plants and a computer in your hand, are motivated by finding the cause when growth deviates from the plan, and would rather solve that in the greenhouse than administer from an office.
Your everyday at Queen
You join Queen Production on Skanderborgvej in Hinnerup, where around 100 colleagues grow Kalanchoë, Euphorbia, Hebe and succulents across several greenhouse departments. You report to the Production Manager, who regularly walks the greenhouses, and you get daily sparring with the department manager for the area you are responsible for. Every two weeks, the growers from all departments meet to share what is working and what is causing trouble.
Your job is to make sure the plants in your greenhouses are where they should be, when they should be. Around 90 percent of what Queen grows is sold in advance, so you follow the growth curve closely, inspect the plants daily, manage irrigation and fertilisation, follow up on soil samples and EC values, and keep an eye on fungi and pests, which Queen controls biologically with beneficial organisms. The greenhouse climate is controlled by sensors and data, and you use the numbers to adjust light intensity, temperature, humidity and irrigation so the plants grow optimally. When something deviates, you take the plant out of its pot and look at the roots, and you seek help from colleagues, suppliers, the literature or the internet before it becomes a problem.
Queen invests continuously in its cultivation: LED lighting in the greenhouses, a new production control system at the end of 2026, an electric boiler that helps balance the power grid, and the phase-out of peat towards 2030. You get thorough training in the crops and the systems, and Queen has set time aside for it. If you become really good, several paths open up: Queen has customers and production sites all over the world, and more people will be needed to advise them in the coming years.
The work takes place in the greenhouses in Hinnerup on weekdays with a normal working week. Production continues through the night, so you can choose to join Queen's on-call scheme, which is paid separately. You do not need to speak Danish when you start. Queen is international, and part of everyday work is in English anyway.
And then there are the benefits:
A competitive salary, a good pension scheme, a tasty lunch scheme, six weeks' holiday in total, health insurance and a very active staff association with its own gym and squash court.
To succeed in the role…
…you do not need to be a trained grower or come from a pot plant nursery. What matters most is that plants fascinate you, that you understand numbers, and that you want to get out into the greenhouses and get your hands dirty. You also take pride in:
noticing when something deviates and speaking up in time instead of waiting to see.
digging into the cause when the growth curve is off and trying out a solution.
keeping structure in a working day where the plants keep growing after you have gone home.
getting into new material, whether it is a book on soil, water and nutrition or a new control system.
What you need to bring:
A green background or a sharp mind: a qualified greenhouse grower, agricultural technologist, agronomist, horticulturist or biologist, or another bachelor's or master's degree that shows you can master demanding material.
Genuine interest in plants and the will to learn pot plant production from the ground up if you do not know it today.
A head for numbers, so you can read measurements and climate data and act on them.
Danish or English at working level, and you live within driving distance of Hinnerup or are willing to relocate.
It is an advantage if you:
are a qualified greenhouse or production grower with several years of experience from a pot plant nursery.
have hands-on experience with climate control, irrigation, fertilisation and biological pest control.
have worked in a production planning or production control system at a nursery.
live close to Hinnerup and would like to join the on-call scheme.
