Jeppesen ForeFlight builds the software and the aeronautical data that private, commercial, business and general aviation rely on to fly safely. Ninety years of aviation data behind us, now run as a modern SaaS company.

The role

You lead a team of 10-12 engineers, working in three small pods, and you report to a director in the US. Your team builds and maintains the internal tools our data organisation uses every day, built over decades in wildly different stacks. What we need from you is judgement that holds across all of them rather than depth in any one.

You shape the days, weeks and workflow of the team, and how the work actually gets done is yours to form. That takes real technical judgement. It also takes a bigger team than the one we have today, so if you start early enough, you will be helping to hire the people who join it.

On AI

This matters more to us than any particular technology on your CV. Agentic development changes what a team should even attempt, and we want a manager who can see that while the work is still being planned.

So you use these tools yourself, and you have opinions that only come from having done it. Where an agent is trusted and where it is not. What a code review looks like when nobody typed the first draft. How you hold the quality bar when the pace goes up with it.

What we are looking for

You are the person in the room who can say that a solution is the wrong one and explain why, while it is being decided rather than once the sprint has gone badly.

You lead the day to day work and you mentor. You are not sitting down to code next to people, and they are not expecting you to.

You are curious about technology in general and loyal to none of it in particular. Our estate runs from Oracle and old Java through to Angular, React, Postgres and geospatial tooling, and it is going to be a lot smaller than it is today.

You have worked with genuinely complicated data. Not large, complicated. Decades of systems built on top of each other, where the hard part is working out what is actually going on.

You give people enough context to make their own calls, and you check in on the outcome rather than the route.

Practical

Gdansk, hybrid, 2 to 3 days a week in the office. You plan your own hours. There will be the occasional evening call with the US. Permanent contract (umowa o prace). Private medical insurance, life insurance, PPK with an extra employer contribution and a benefits platform.
